Last month, I announced that Tyndale had a Bible giveaway called Win a Bible, Give a Bible. Happily, I won an NLT Study Bible. I don't think it overlaps much at all with the other study Bibles I have in my library: my good old NIV, my more recent NET, and my newer ESV. I also received a coupon to give away for a free NLT Life Application Bible. So, I'm looking to give this coupon to someone who comments on this post. Leave a comment telling us your favorite book of the Bible. I'll pick a winner next week. I can only give the prize to those I can contact. James is my favorite, because it reminds us that faith is not enough, that you have to walk the walk as well. I also like James 1:17 (Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows). I like the idea that all good things are from God, whether the world realizes it or not, and that we can see Him everywhere. (midnightandoreo@gmail.com)

I have the great pleasure of facilitating every week a Bible discussion group with several high school students. We've been discussing the Gospel of John  this past year, and we finally finished tonight. We enjoyed the humorous scene John writes about in this last chapter. Bad religion asks parents to sacrifice their children. Bad religion is cultural. Bad religion looks for scapegoats. Bad religion always find scapegoats in those with less power. Bad religion kills kids.
